Raspberry Banana Smoothie

Love Smoothies!

Never say you can't be bothered to eat fruit over a packet of crisps when you have the option to make smoothies.  They are so much more filling and give you a massive energy boost. Plus they are so refreshing, perfect for summer weather.

Ingredients:

A handful of raspberries, 2 dollops of plain yoghurt, 1tbsp flaxseed, 1 medium banana.

Method:

1. Mash it up in a blender and enjoy.
2. If it's too thick for you add more yoghurt or better still eat it with a spoon.

Saffy's Alternative

You can also use milk instead of yoghurt.

This drink will not appeal to everyone.  It has a very sharp taste and leaves an interesting after taste.  I personally find it interesting, I recommend it  for nutritional purposes and a refreshing awakening agent.

Ingredients:

1 kiwi (peeled and chopped), 1 banana (peeled and chopped), 3 dollops of yoghurt, 1tsp maple syrup, 1tbsp flaxseed.

Method:

Blend all of these ingredients together and pour into a glass.

Raspberry Blueberry Smoothie

This is really not a smoothie for the faint hearted.  It sounds like an innocent drink, but it is very bitter.  You are probably asking why I made such a concoction. Well, I invented this drink because I needed a super quick snack during my hectic day and realised this was a great quick and easy way to get a healthy burst of energy.  If you want to make is a bit tastier and less bitter and some banana and a dollop more yoghurt.

Ingredients:

A samll handful of raspberries, a small handfull of blueberries, 4 large dollops of natural plain low fat yoghurt, 2 regular spoonfuls of flaxseed.

Method:

Blitz everything in a blender!

Strawberry, Apple & Banana Power Smoothie

"Power Up!"

When I was a little girl I used to watch so many superhero cartoons like Batman and superhero tv shows like Power Rangers.  So much so that I wanted to feel super every single day.  I would sometimes wake up at 5am every morning to workout.  I was one superfit kid and I have never stopped that determination and ambitious attitude.  Wonderful fresh food also helps me to feel great and after my mum taught me how to make smoothies I have been re inventing them to make Power Ranger style drinks that will certainly give me the much needed boost to feel... well... super!

Ingredients:
1 small banana, 5  strawberries, 1/2 apple (peeled and sliced), 2tbsps flaxseed, 3 big dollops of plain low fat natural yoghurt.

Method:

1.  Put the apple pieces in a pot and put in enough water to just cover the apples.
2. Let the water simmer until the apples are soft.
3. Drain the apple pieces and put into a blender.
4. Chop up all the other pieces of fruit and put into the blender with the flaxseed and yoghurt.
5. Blend.
